World Cup Playoffs

I was trying to explain to my friend why we were going to lose to Portugal: "Well, it's mostly that they're better at playing soccer at the professional level than we are. They're the better team. They have better players, and they're better." Yet somehow we managed to win, or tie, and then we lost later but they won, so we won in the end. I hope that the U.S. will win tomorrow, but either way I'm going to work two hours early and leaving two hours early so I can drink beer for two hours and cheer for them with all my heart. It only happens every four years; I've found that to be a good reason. I've discovered, and I wonder if other Americans have this feeling, that when I watch the U.S. men's national team in the World Cup, I almost find myself cheering for the Green Bay Packers. It's like it's just on the tip of my tongue to scream something at Jarrett Bush when someone in the backfield makes a terrible play. And I think it's because I feel so similar when I watch the U.S. team to when I watch the Packers. So, tomorrow I'll be the guy in the bar wearing the Rodger's throwback jersey during the game. It's blue, so I'm covered.
