Home Econ vs Tech Ed

I was among the last class of my middle school to go through a home economics class. The teacher I had for home econ split time with a technology education teacher, who would later take over the entire program. In home economics I baked some food and I learned how to sew buttons. Skills I continue to use this day and the only real world skill I knowingly apply that I learned in middle school. In our Tech Ed class we learned how to operate a CB and move chess pieces with a robotic arm. While they sound a bit cooler, those have not paid off. You know what would have been nice in Tech Ed? A computer.
