Teenage Riot

I'm friends with a few teenagers on Facebook. One of them, a 10th grader, said something insightful the other day, "Reading old posts. Man, I said lot of stupid stuff in 9th grade." And I thought, "wait until you read these posts next year." It occurred to me that I'm lucky that there  isn't a permanent online record of all my teenage angst, fights, terrible ideas and general stupidity. But then again, there's not going to be a permanent record for these teens either. By the time they're adults Facebook and all its Farmville apps and quizzes will be long gone. And it will be replaced with something likely more permanent and better indexed for the next round of teenagers. Too bad for them.
