I was sitting with a few friends and a guy I'd met ten minutes earlier came over to share a story. A couple years prior his friend had kept a boa constrictor and let it sleep in her bed. It stopped eating the mice she was feeding it for about a week, and one morning she woke up and it was lying stretched out next to her in bed. She took it to the vet, and the vet told her that it was a good thing she brought it in. The vet said it was lying straight next to her because it was sizing her up, and it was starving itself so it'd be hungry enough to eat her. It was a pretty interesting story, and I have no idea if it's true, but I have a strong suspicion that it's just an urban legend. But what's interesting to me is that the guy walked over and told us about something his friend's boa constrictor did a couple years ago. We weren't talking about snakes, exotic pets or close encounters with wild animals. I wonder if he just tells everyone he meets that story, and if anything crazier happens to him or anyone he knows, he'll begin telling that story to everyone he meets.
