Back Issues
I threw out my back picking up a hairbrush. In my defense I was tense, packing in a hurry before running to the airport, and I'd just returned from riding an ill-fitting borrowed bike across town at a breakneck pace to buy a replacement door handle for the one that broke off while closing the bathroom door in our rental. I'd nearly packed up my carry-on, one of the only things left being my wife's hairbrush. I bent to grab it off the couch and for some reason the angle, tension, cold sweat, and hairbrush conspired to throw my back into fits. I recovered within a few days and a bit of relaxation and exercise, but I do wish I'd been doing something awesome when I pulled it. Or at least picking up a beer. I guarantee I wouldn't have spilled a drop.
