The State Song

In elementary school we used to sing a song about all the states, and towards the end we rattled off all the state names in alphabetical order. It was a nice way to memorize them with no context. Then the very last line of the song was something like, "While we love all the state, in our humble opinion (blank) is the best." Since we were in Wisconsin, we chose to say Wisconsin was the best. In class I raised my hand and suggested to my teacher that maybe we should say Hawaii is the best since their weather is so much better, but she shot me down. And now that I've been to Hawaii, I have to say that it's not the best state. It's impossible to take roadtrips there, plus there are never any great concerts or sporting events. Still, a great state. Really, every state has something wrong with it. They shouldn't make these kids pick a best one.
