The Cool Kids

Growing up I spent about a day a week hanging out at the local YMCA. I don't remember doing anything there except taking swim lessons, but there was usually a bit of downtime after the lesson, where I'd be waiting for my parents or sisters, and I'd hangout in the game room. For some reason, I assumed that all the kids there older than me were much cooler. Then the other day it occurred to me that most people younger than me are much cooler than I am now. They're more sensitive to trends and styles and music that I never seem to catch onto. So, I began to wonder at what age I would have hit the sweet spot and actually been the cool person. My best guess is that it was around the middle of June back in 2008, and it probably lasted about 15 minutes.
