I went through my Facebook newsfeed and unsubscribed from everyone except people who meet one of these criteria: 1. We're related; 2. They're actual friends; 3. I see them regularly in real life; 4. I think they're funny; and 5. I actively dislike them. The first four are self-explanatory, so I'll give you my logic on the fifth. It's nice to keep tabs on people you don't like since you can see you're doing better than them. And, since it's impossible to always be doing better than everyone you dislike, you're able to see some other small aspect of their life where you actually are doing better, and through the miracle of rationalization, you can make yourself feel better about it.
