A Matter of Perspective

Everyone around me is sick or getting over having been very sick. Half of them had a bug that cranks through in about 24 hours and brings violent illness, lots of time in the bathroom, chills, and fevers. The other half had some kind of mild but long-wearing bug that creeps through sinuses, throat, ears, and lungs. I conducted a casual survey, and found that my friends with the quick, violent illness reported they would have preferred the long, slow one, and vice versa for friends with the two-week head colds. It makes sense that anyone who's miserable would choose the opposite of whatever they're feeling. So far no one I know has gotten both illnesses at the same time, but I should be a good candidate since I'm spending so much time around these people.
