I ride my bike to work every day. So whenever it snows, the wind is bad, or there's a big rainstorm, there are about three people in my office who seek me out and ask if I rode my bike to work that day. My answer has always been the same: "Yes." Their reactions never vary: "What! You're kidding!" I thought this would stop happening after the first winter had come and gone, but it continues years later. The capacity for their consistent, reliable surprise, ends up surprising me each day they ask. So in a way, I'm as guilty as them of not being able to accept such a consistent, reliable set of facts.
