Financial Phone Calls

The fraud departments at banks are run backwards. If you get a suspicious charge to your account, they call you and ask for all kinds of personal account details over the phone. Giving out your account details to a stranger on the phone is just the kind of behavior that's going to land fraudulent charges on your account. And, as fraud experts, this is not something they should be encouraging. I told that to a woman who called me last week, and then later when I tried to use my card it was declined, so I guess she was legit. She told me that if I had any problems, I could call the number on the back of my card. So I did so, and then after sitting in the robo-menu and hold queue for 20 minutes, we finally got it resolved. Banks, it's 2012. We can do better; I know you have the money to pay for it.
