No Drink November

I am over one week into "No Drink November." I haven't really noticed any change except that I have a beard and I can remember all of my dreams. I had one that I was drinking bourbon the other night, it felt like cheating and I was also hungover when I woke up. The idea of taking a month off from alcohol was sold to me last month on a Sunday morning while I was suffering some of the flu-like symptoms associated with a rather careless bartender overserving me the night before. Then last Friday, the first weekend night of No Drink November, I went to dinner with these friends who had also agreed to take the month off. We had to wait about half an hour for our table, and the moment we sat down the waiter dropped a complementary carafe of sangria on our table as a kind gesture for our patience. That, literally, has never happened to me before.
