Old Fashioned

When I go to my parents' house they ask me to go through the piles of old notebooks and binders I still have in their attic from high school and college. I throw most of the stuff away, but I did page through my health class notebook before tossing it into the trash. I'd actually seen my old health teacher just a couple days before. She was very young when I had her in high school, and now she's close friends with my sisters, also both teachers. I found a worksheet that was loaded with questions about how I'd act in a situation where people were drinking alcohol. I told her in no uncertain terms that I would, of course, resist peer pressure and give a forceful "NO" to any offers of beer or wine. Though it didn't stick. I'd seen my health teacher at a bar, and we'd discussed the nuances of making Old Fashions and how they're hard to find properly crafted outside of Wisconsin. Perhaps that could become a new part of the high school curriculum.
