Spring Cleaning

In the midst of a spring cleaning blitz I emptied my closet of old clothes and made the ill-fated decision to wash out and keep a cooler that had been sitting in our backyard since the previous summer instead of throwing it away. The clothes went in a Goodwill pile though two of my roommates took most of them, and the cooler was hosed out, scrubbed and, when it still reeked of last summer's hamburgers, filled with a solution of bleach and water and left on my kitchen floor. That night both my roommates wore my old clothes to the bar, and during a wrestling match in our kitchen later knocked over the bleach-filled cooler. They jumped up, taken aback that there was a cooler filled with bleach in our kitchen. Perhaps that was a bad move on my part. I told my friends their new clothes might be ruined. In the moments they stood there, I could already see the colors fading away where they'd been lying in the bleach. Anyway, I got rid of my old clothes and we had a clean cooler. It all worked out in the end.
