High School Hacky Sack

The police in my hometown used to bust up our hacky sack ring on the regular. We'd play in a vacant parking lot next to the coffee shop where we always hung out, and sometimes they'd send three squad cars, sirens blazing into parking lot from different directions. Then they'd get out of the cars and one would ask if we had permission to use the vacant lot. It seemed like a normal thing at the time, part of being a teenager and, frankly, something everyone who plays hacky sack on the regular probably has coming. But now that I think about it, what the hell were those police doing to us? Teenagers can cause loads of problems, and we never did anything very illegal or harassed people. I mean, maybe the police could have stationed a sniper on a nearby roof to keep an eye us, but busting up the hacky ring was excessive.
