I'm the worst person to buy a gift for, because if it's something I really want like cycling components, noise-canceling headphones, or a new computer monitor, I'll pore over research and shop online for hours to find the best component at the best price. So if someone hands me an expensive new anything I can only think about how I could have put that money to better use finding exactly what I want. Since I'm very bad at lying and acting, opening high dollar value gifts presents problems in my personal life. It's not so bad a problem, provided you saved the receipt.
