I was in a part of the country with a large Amish population and stopped by a farmers' market. The Amish were well represented. I have a lot of respect for their ways in spite of having no understanding of it, but I once tried to learn a bit by watching a documentary about them. It turned out to be about Amish kids leaving their families to try out life in the 21st century so they could decide what they wanted to do moving forward. There was a lot of shocking behavior, or at least shocking by Amish standards. I suppose it would be considered fairly normal experimentation for most kids. When I was watching it, I kept thinking about how these kids must have all gotten in a lot of trouble when they returned to their communities, but then the other day it occurred to me that none of their parents could have ever seen the videos of them going wild.
