I Am Thankful I Won't Remember Any of This

The days between Thanksgiving and Christmas seemed an eternity when I was a little kid. Now they pass in roughly 48 hours. Part of it is because I have more to do than make extensive Christmas lists, but the bigger reason is that I have more memory of time passing. With each day, so grows our own memory of time passing, so these fixed amounts of time, like the days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, seem to go faster since we have a greater breadth of memories of being alive. It's a cruel fate, and a good argument for sleeping 10 hours a day and drinking a lot so you have less memory of time passing. That said, this year I'm thankful for health, family, friends, and that I can take the time to appreciate the passage of time.
