Safety Instructions

I remember the first time I flew on a plane. It was by myself so I didn't have anyone to introduce me to the subtle nuances of flying. I put my bag under the seat I was sitting on instead of the seat in front of me, and I paid very close attention to the safety instructions from the stewardess. And I could not figure out why no one else was paying attention to her. Now most of the safety talks are done by videos, and they're much easier to ignore. I don't understand why they even have them anymore. They should just say, "Look, it's extremely unlikely that this plane is going to crash. BUT, in the highly unlikely event that it does, it is almost certain that you will die. Good luck!"
