I was revisiting some bands of my youth yesterday with the woman cutting my hair. She was into Bouncing Souls and Social Distortion. I liked them but supported the local bands Alligator Gun and Face to Face more. That was when I found out that Face to Face was actually from California and not Wisconsin. I'd grown up thinking they were local because so many of my schoolmates listened to them and they played the small venues near my house with such regularity. Plus their songs all sound basically the same, and they're pretty derivative of other punk acts that were national. I just assumed that since they lacked originality but were still so popular in my town that they must be from nearby.
