World Water Day

A few days ago was World Water Day, when many eco-conscious  companies created online initiatives to educate people about the water they use and then encourage them to waste less. I went through a 'water footprint calculator' on the National Geographic website to see just how much water I, as an American human on planet Earth, burn through every day. I had high hopes of being green, but it seems that flying in planes and taking 15-minute showers is bad for humanity. Also, I'm sad to report, coffee and beer both require massive amounts of water to produce. I thought I'd get a bonus for avoiding bottled water, but if I quit drinking coffee and beer I could shower in bottled water and cause less waste. So that's it. It's a sad day, when you realize you have to give up showers and travel just to live on Earth.
